Rassie lifts the curtain on his life

From a young boy in Despatch, to Rassie’s personal struggles and even his rugby career, the film chronicles the rugby legend’s life story. We follow his childhood through the remnants of apartheid, and we see the world through the eyes of young Johan, who grew to become a generational talent on the field. “South Africa and our people have given me so much for so many years,” says Rassie, adding “I have certainly had my trials and tribulations, but my greatest honour has always been representing my country. I hope this film reminds people of that immense pride and provides hope to any South African who needs it.”

The film is engaging and emotional. It’s an 80-minute adventure into the mind of the man who looked his challenges in the eye and gave Springbok fans and players a fresh dose of hope. Rassie: The Official Film further shows the heart of a leader, who is much loved in South Africa as he is respected around the world. The film comes from the creators of the award-winning sports docuseries, Chasing The Sun and Two Sides.
