We’re diving into the new telenovela Diepe Waters, filled with suspense, secrets, and forbidden love. We also meet some Housewives, who’re ready to shake Pretoria’s lazy Jacarandas, and we’re crossing knives in the kitchen with the new seasons of Come Dine With Me South Africa, and Kookpunt.
Sports fans can look forward to the URC Rugby Championship, Women’s Rugby World Cup and the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 matches. It’s about to get hot, so get ready for the DStv Summer Shake Up!

Houvrou of Trouvrou
Eight South African women compete to prove that they’re wife (and not mistress or Houvrou) material in this reality show. The contenders engage in a series of challenges to see who possesses the qualities of a modern bride. Houvrou of Trouvrou is presented by series host Christi Panagio. The judges are: etiquette queen Emsie Schoeman; personal trainer Bauke Hanekom; and radio presenter Sherlin Barends.

Brothers Nataniël and Erik Le Roux return to Nantes in France. Nataniël’s latest obsession stems from forgotten fairy-tale illustrations by French artist, Gustave Doré. Erik’s latest discovery is the workshop of an eccentric old mansion. Nataniël calls designers and artists to collaborate with him to create a world of fantasy.

Groen: Kongo Reënwoud
Dave Pepler is an ecologist and naturalist. He goes on a 13-week adventure, with his team, in the Central African Republic’s rainforests to meet its people, plants and animals. Dave spent a month at Dzanga-Ndoki National Park, which is still home to forest elephants, and all four of Africa’s pangolin species.

Huisegenoot magazine’s true-crime reporters take you inside some of South Africa’s most devastating family murder cases. Get to grips with the mindsets of the killers who took abuse to its absolute limits. Starting the season is the case of Jannie Beukes, who murdered his five-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter with his bare hands.

Kookpunt
In each episode of this reality series, chefs, Chris Erasmus and Yolani Abrahams, challenge three professional chefs to culinary combat. There’s a R25 000 prize at stake (or steak, if you’re a carnivore). In the first episode, Chef Reuben Riffel pops by as a guest judge to see what’s cooking.

Michelin star chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, invites celebrity guests to share a meal with him at a newly renovated 1712 farmhouse. The homestead is nestled in a lavender field on a Franschhoek wine farm. His guests include: author, Deon Meyer; activist and glamorous hostess, Tannie Evita Bezuidenhout; and food activist Chef Mokgadi Itsweng.

Come Dine With Me South Africa
Voiceover legend Dave Lamb returns to roast this season’s guests and hosts to perfection. Four strangers from Cape Town and Johannesburg will take turns hosting each other at extravagant dinner parties in their own homes, and then they’ll keep score. We’re expecting this season to get extra spicy because one host practically has a zoo in her home, which includes: a real, live Peppa Pig, and there’s an uninvited guest at the party – load shedding.

Diepe Waters
Diepe Waters is set at the swimming club, Die Swartmarlyne (Black Marlin). The establishment is owned by Gys Swarts (Justin Strydom) and his wife Meghan (Lea Vivier). It’s co-run by his sons, Rossouw (Altus Theart) and Jacques (Werner Coetser). Roussouw’s wife Sanet (Nadia Valvekens) is pushing their daughter Karla (Danielle Swanepoel) to compete internationally, while their less talented son Johan (Liam Bosman) is forced to stay in his lane.

Departure
Accident investigator, Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi) is headed for icy Newfoundland in Canada. This comes after the ferry boat, The Queen of the Narrows, sinks with 300 passengers onboard, and a mystery bang was heard just before it started going down. Kendra and her team, including Dominic Hayes (Kris Holden-Ried), talk to survivors, and those who were first on the scene to rescue survivors.
