1. Where we find our returning characters

Season 2 sees the “Underdogs” Ethan (Cantona James), Trevor (Braedon Buys), Shane (Dillon Windvogel), Angelo (Nahum Hughes) And Amber (Chelsea Thomas) leave the familiar streets of Cape Town behind as they make the move to Johannesburg, stepping into a new city, new surroundings and a very different chapter of their lives. Johannesburg represents the possibility of growth and a better future, but starting over comes at a cost. As they chase new opportunities, Season 2 explores whether they can stay true to themselves and each other when home is no longer around the corner. Cape Town made them, but will Johannesburg change them?

2. The new faces: Spinning into a new world

The move to Johannesburg introduces the ‘Underdogs' to a different circle of people who challenge, influence and shake up their lives. The Masekos bring a fresh dynamic to the Spinners world. There’s the strong-willed Amahle Maseko (played by Luyanda Zwane) and her impulsive older brother Sayi Maseko (played by Aphiwe Mkefe). Alongside Sayi is his trusted wingman Gatsha (played by Siyamthanda Bangani). With new personalities come new friendships, rivalries and complications, and as the Cape Town crew tries to find its feet in Johannesburg, the Masekos and Gatsha are set to become an important part of their new world.

3. New tensions and relationships

Johannesburg presents new tensions, new relationships, and new personalities into the mix. Among them is a fiery and impulsive character whose hot-headed nature constantly lands him in trouble. With strong personalities colliding, expect sparks to fly as the “Underdogs” navigate this unfamiliar world down the streets of Soweto.

4. The moment that will leave viewers wanting Episode 2

Episode 1 ends on a gripping cliffhanger that sets the stage for even bigger drama to come. Just as Ethan appears to be on the cusp of conquering the spinning scene, his past comes crashing back into his life, threatening everything he has been working towards. What has come back to haunt Ethan, and could it derail his fresh start in Johannesburg?  Viewers will have to tune in to Episode 2 to find out.

5. Brush up on your Spinning lingo

Before you buckle up for Episode 1, there’s some spinning lingo you’ll want to know. The world of spinning comes with its own language, and these are a few terms to listen out for as the action heats up:

  • Target Slide: A driver spins tightly around a fixed target while keeping the car inside a marked zone. The aim is to maintain a clean, controlled orbit without touching the target.
  • Kitchen: A driver throws the car into a high-speed rollback between two barriers, reversing as close to the back wall as possible. It is a test of timing and precision.
  • Make-Out Corner: The driver slides the car into a tight enclosed space without touching the barriers. The challenge is to place the car accurately while maintaining momentum and style.
  • Side2Side Wall: A driver moves the car from one side of the obstacle to the other, repeatedly bringing it as close as possible to the barriers. It showcases rapid weight transfer and precise car control.
  • Drift Barrier: A driver powerslides alongside a barrier, keeping the car sideways and extremely close to the wall. The goal is maximum proximity without contact, combining speed, angle and throttle control.

Keep an eye out for Siv Ngesi appearing as himself, Kayla Oliphant representing Team Kayla, and Anton Taylor taking charge as the MC as the Jo’burg spinning scene comes alive.
