We’re looking at life a little differently this February on Compact Plus – from satirical takes on the news in the new season of The Daily Show, to surprising journeys through history in Quick Connections with Alie Ward, and Drunk History. Speaking of journeys, buckle up for nightmares in the air in the new thriller series In Flight, and two documentary series, Air Crash Investigation, and Inside Airport: Lost & Found. And we go back to the land with Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, now dubbed into Afrikaans.

Landman

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan takes us to the oil fields of Texas for Dallas-style drama…now in Afrikaans! Crisis manager Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton/De Waal Stemmet) solves problems for M-Tex Oil tycoon Monty Miller (Jon Hamm/Charl van Heyningen) and his wife Cami (Demi Moore/Renske Jacobs) at work, while working a “second shift” at home as dad to his rebellious adult son Cooper (Jacob Lofland/Rowlen von Gericke) and rule-breaking teen princess, Aynsley (Michelle Randolph/Anré Bouguenon).

The Daily Show

Express from the US! Comedian Josh Johnson joins co-anchor Jon Stewart and the “news” team for a brand-new season of satirical takes on life in the US today. From Greenland grabs, to kidnapping presidents, to world events you couldn’t make up (with proof from multiple camera angles), the news team face the full firehose blast of unprecedented events, and twist them through the comedy filter while also tackling pop culture and whatever Gen Z is up to these days.

Drunk History

Derek Waters travels around the US getting local historians, actors, writers, and comedians drunk and allowing them to rant about their niche interests, while other performers dress up and reenact their twisted histories and lip-sync to the narration. This season sees Tony Hale as Edward Drinker Cope, and Christopher Meloni as Othniel Charles Marsh, reenacting palaeontology’s notorious Bone Wars, Community writer-creator Dan Harmon on a tear about cocaine godmother Griselda Blanco, and an epic episode on chess and pinball.

Quick Connections with Alie Ward

Alie Ward (winner of the Best Science Podcast award for her series Ologies) connects the dots between seemingly unrelated events to build up a picture of how crazy reality can be. Discover the points of connection between the invention of photography and life in the virtual world. Find out the link between rockets and antidepressants, between poker players and AI’s new ability to pass as human, and between an enslaved couple and man’s ability to control the weather.

Tired of rich, picky couples turning up their noses at delightful houses? Welcome to the opposite end of the market, as Matthew Hoffman’s (who narrated Love Island before Iain Stirling took over) voiceover puts a humorous twist on the search for “affordable” housing in seaside towns across the US, with help from local estate agents who’re hamming it up just a little for the cameras. If you thought Beachfront Bargain Hunters needed a little salty sarcasm, you’ve found your show.

Father Brown

During the 1950s, Roman Catholic priest Father Brown (Mark Williams) uses his confession booth-honed expertise in asking questions and understanding human nature to solve crimes in the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford. The new 2026 season sees former parish secretary Mrs McCarthy (Socha Cusack) make a surprise return to help Father Brown solve a mystery, as the series touches on the horror of abuse and high death rates in Ireland’s homes for unwed mothers and their babies.

Inside the Arrest

This British documentary series uses bodycam footage to analyse police and suspect behaviour around the moment of arrest, before taking us inside some of the most notorious criminal cases of recent years, and revealing the intense investigation and planning that led to that gotcha moment. Cases include the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, a security guard’s plot to kidnap TV presenter Holly Willoughby, and the woman who murdered her parents, then lived with their corpses for four years.

Thriller series written by Mike Walden and Adam Randall (Slow Horses). A drug-smuggling gang blackmails London-based flight attendant Jo Conran (Katherine Kelly) by threatening to harm her 19-year-old son Sonny (Harry Cadby) after he is thrown in prison in Bulgaria for a murder that he insists he didn’t commit. Desperate, she turns to her ex, Dom (Ashley Thomas), a customs officer, for help carrying out orders from her cartel handler, Cormac Kelleher (Stuart Martin).

Air Crash Investigation

Relive the minutes leading up to deadly air crashes, and find out how clues in the wreckage help investigators to analyse what went wrong. This season’s investigations link a rich passenger’s demands to a 2001 charter flight crash at Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, take us behind the scenes during the Navy’s mission to recover the black box from Aeroperú Flight 603, and reveal what brought down Yeti Airlines Flight 691 in Nepal, and Korean Air Flight 6316.

Inside Airport: Lost & Found

What happens to all the suitcases, bags and stuff travellers lose at airports and on planes? It has two destinations: being found again, or being sold. This series focuses on the work of the airport investigators as they work to reunite passengers with some surprising items, including a live dog, a prosthetic eye, and a bride’s pearl necklace. We also visit warehouses where lost luggage is sold to the public or put up for auction.
