Govan Ontbloot

Docu-series from Combined Artistic Productions (Original Sin: My Son the Killer and Strangers You Know). Carte Blanche presenter Govan Whittles digs deeper into nine extraordinary South African stories. Join him for a cultural adventure in an Afrikaner community in Kleinfontein outside Pretoria, see the world of Afrikaans swingers, and Tokkie van Wyk’s New Life Centre for gospel-based addiction treatment. Govan also returns to Namaqualand to catch up with the diggers who were exploited in Louis Liebenberg’s alleged diamond fraud schemes.

Tour de France 2025

See the French countryside for one glorious summer month. No passport needed! Join the peloton as the 112th Tour De France cycling race sets off in Lille and makes its way through to Paris this July in a 3 320-kilometre course across 21 stages. If you’ve tried sneaking a peek, you know this one is locked down tight! But the race will be broadcast live on SS Action, aside from the two rest days on Tuesday, 15 July and Monday, 21 July.

Get ready to shout at the screen as Silwerskerm Award-winning quiz show host Rian van Heerden challenges contestants to answer those R1 million questions. Magda Louw

Silwerskerm Award-winning comedy-drama directed by Johannes Pieter Nel (Koek). Cameraman Shaun (Gershwin Mias) and his reality show crew are back following Magda Louw (series creator Desiré Gardner) and her grumpy husband, Erhard (Hannes Aan Huis presenter Hannes van Wyk in a truly tragic wig), as they go about their daily lives. Magda and Hannes have a new “child” – their Boston terrier puppy, Genis (played by the series’ makeup artist Mia Liebenberg’s dog) – competing with their grandson Louw Louw (Johann Wessels).

Net Mens

Docu-series. Three South African women share intimate stories with executive producer and director Reynardt Hugo. Singers Karlien van Jaarsveld and Amandra Strydom talk about their miscarriages, while actress Hanna Grobler shares the story of her stillborn son. “This season changed me,” admits Reynardt. “To witness their raw honesty, their pain and their strength was one of the most humbling experiences of my career. Net Mens 3 is about how we rise, how we remember and how we move forward.”

Death Valley

British detective comedy-drama. Eccentric retired actor John Chapel (Timothy Spall), who made his mark playing a TV detective, teams up with socially inept detective sergeant Janie Mallowan (Gwyneth Keyworth) to investigate murders in Wales. In cozy Midsomer Murders style, the focus is on the countryside and dark secrets behind cheerful faces and local celebrations. Chapel and Mallowan’s investigations take them to weddings, walking groups, amateur drama groups (for a post-apocalyptic production of Hamlet), and more.

The Great British Bake Off’s beloved winner Nadiya Hussain is here to help you make the most of your weekly grocery shopping and your kitchen time. Along with intriguing new recipes like a zero-waste banana peel curry, and a roast peanut chicken tray bake, there are great beginner recipes to set kids who’re about to leave home on the right track (or get the whole family to pitch in on prep nights), like Nadiya’s easy soda bread and instant chicken noodles.

Kiff: Lore of the Ring Light

This kids’ animated movie special is based on the Kiff series, which earned its South African creators, Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal, nominations for two Children’s and Family Emmy Awards in 2025: Outstanding Children’s Or Young Teen Animated Series and Outstanding Original Song. In a send-up of The Lord of the Rings, Kiff and her school friends set out to destroy a smartphone ring light that was created by witches to make its user look overpoweringly glamorous.
