DStv is bringing you the COSAFA Cup. 22 matches from 4 June to 15 June!

SuperSport, your home for the best football in the world, available on DStv will feature the 2025 COSAFA Cup, which kicks off this Wednesday, June 4, and features 22 matches up to and including the final, which will be held on Sunday, June 15.

With a thrilling 2024/25 season having just wrapped up with Paris Saint-Germain’s emphatic triumph in the final of the UEFA Champions League this past weekend – and following on from amazing campaigns in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and CAF Interclub (CCL & CCC) – the COSAFA Cup helps to bridge the gap until the start of the eagerly-anticipated FIFA Club World Cup, which will run from June 15 to July 13 on SuperSport available on DStv.

This year’s COSAFA Cup, which will be held in Bloemfontein, South Africa, and features 14 teams: the host nation, Mozambique, Mauritius and Zimbabwe are in Group A; reigning champions Angola, as well as Namibia, Malawi and Lesotho in Group B; Group C has Eswatini, Madagascar and Tanzania; while Group D comprises Botswana, Comoros and Zambia.

Round-robin matches will be played from June 4 to June 11. The top team from each group will advance into the semifinals (to be played on June 13), followed by a third-place playoff and final (June 15).

Highlights in the group stage are a renewal of the rivalry between South Africa and Zimbabwe – five-time champions Bafana Bafana are seeking a first trophy since 2021, while six-time winners the Warriors have not held the silverware aloft since 2018 – as well as a repeat of last year’s final between Angola and Namibia.

East African nation Tanzania will feature as guests, replacing Morocco (who were initially named in the tournament draw but were forced to withdraw) while seven-time winners Zambia will back themselves to get past Comoros and Botswana.

It is notable that nations usually do not field their strongest ‘A’ teams in the COSAFA Cup but rather select squads which reflect the brightest talents and most exciting young players in their domestic leagues.
