The wait is finally over! Shaka iLembe returns to claim its throne for a powerful second season, premiering exclusively on Africa Magic Showcase on Sunday, 15 June at 10pm. After a groundbreaking first season that captivated audiences across South Africa and beyond, the epic saga continues, charting the next chapter in Shaka’s rise to power. With gripping storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and unforgettable performances, Season 2 is set to deliver an even more intense exploration of ambition, legacy, and the unrelenting pursuit of greatness.

The award-winning series, which secured 12 South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA), brings back Lemogang Tsipa as the formidable Shaka and Thembinkosi Mthembu, whose SAFTA-winning performance as Dingiswayo was a standout. Joining them is Nomzamo Mbatha, whose portrayal of Nandi earned her the Best African Actress award at the 2024 Septimius Awards. Returning cast members include Wiseman Mncube as the ruthless Zwide, Dawn Thandeka King as the commanding Mkabayi, Khabonina Qubeka as the power-driven Ntombazi, and Mondli Makhoba as the steadfast Ngomane. Together, they set the stage for a season filled with high-stakes battles, political intrigue, and deeply personal struggles.
Expanding the story beyond the Zulu kingdom, Season 2 introduces new characters and territories, taking viewers from the majestic mountains of the Swati kingdom to the rolling hills of the Xhosa. "The new cast members bring fresh energy, exploring the complexities of power, love, and loyalty in a turbulent era,” says Executive Producer Desiree Markgraaff. “South Africa is rich with characters, and we’re just beginning to uncover them."
